A Bible Timeline Banner Offers A Graphical Approach To Aid And Help Teach Bible Events And Facts

In our Bible study years ago, one person who had been a Christian and worked in the Church for many years, said,"Yes, but Abraham had the Law and so he understood about......" (they were not referring to the pre-Moses law) I wonder how many Christians will actually pick up the inaccuracy in this statement. Moses existed some 500 years after Abraham and so it is impossible. I have since then made up a Biblical chronological banner and shown in a more graphic way the chronology of men and women and events.

Years ago, I was preaching on the burial, life, resurrection and death of Jesus Christ, and a retired pastor and powerful preacher of the Gospel, who had been a pastor for forty years, came to me and reproved me smartly over some fascinating points I made and he referred to 1Ti 1:4'Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.' I quietly asked him if I was preaching anything of a heretical nature at all, to which he said"No". I continued on to describe that in the case of that particular verse, it was not referring to exploring the Bible but to the false teaching and philosophy of Gnosticism, but he wouldn't have it. Let me ask, how can a forty year minister & laborer in the Gospel, not know and understand about a thing that possibly half the books of the New Testament refer to?
How could he study and teach the Bible fully without being familiar with a thing that was so influential in the New Testament church? And then how can the congregation hope to understand these things and be in a position to understand their Bible effectively, if they are not informed?
Let's us as teachers and preachers stitch together the fragments of the Bible and His plan into a seamless tapestry that our people are able to draw on for the rest of their lives, helping them to understand God, His Eternal Plan, the function of the Church and how to better interpret the Bible to live by.
It is not hard to do, and it is not boring if we are ready to put in a bit of effort prayer and fervor, and just possibly you can make use of a Bible Timeline as well.
