A Bible Timeline Banner Gives A Creative Way To Convey Bible Characters And Events And Principles

In our Sunday Bible study years ago, one person who had been a Christian and laboured in the local Church for over 15 years, said,"Yes, but Abraham had the Law and so he understood about......" (they weren't referring to the pre-Moses law) I wonder just how many Christians will actually notice the inaccuracy in this assertion. Moses came about five hundred years after Abraham and so it is an impossibility. I have since made up a Biblical chronological banner and explained in a more graphic way the dating of individuals and occasions.

Some time ago, I was teaching on the burial, resurrection, death and life of Jesus Christ, and a retired pastor and powerful preacher of the Bible, who had been in the ministry for forty years, came up and reproved me smartly over some interesting points I made and he said 1Ti 1:4'Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.' I humbly asked him if I was preaching anything of a heretical nature at all, to which he said"No". I continued to spell out that in the case of that particular verse, it wasn't speaking to examining the Bible but to the false teaching and philosophy of the Gnostics, but he wouldn't have it. Let me ask, how can a forty year preacher & laborer in the Gospel, not understand and know about something that possibly 1/2 the books of the New Testament discuss?
How can he study and teach the Bible in fullness without being aware of something that was so influential in the New Testament church? And then how can the congregation hope to understand these things and be able to understand their Bible effectively, if they're not told?
Let's us as instructors and preachers sew together the fragments of God's Word and His plan into a logical whole that our people can draw on for the rest of their lives, to help them to understand God, His Eternal Plan, the role of the Church and ways to better translate the Bible to live by.
It is not hard to do, and it is not boring if we're ready to put in a bit of study and prayer and fervor, and just possibly you can make use of a Bible Timeline too.
